Cellulite Causes and Natural Prevention

Cellulite plagues many women throughout the world.  Men can also develop cellulite, but it is more common in women.

Anyone can develop it, regardless of whether they are thin or obese.

Cellulite is made up of little pockets of fat deposited just under the skin.  It generally appears around the thighs, buttocks and hips and creates a bumpy surface on the skin.  Everyone has fat layers under the surface of their skin.  Collagen fibers that connect the fat to the skin will begin to stretch, causing little fat cells to pop out creating the “cottage cheese” look that comes with cellulite.

What Causes Cellulite?

Some people think that cellulite is an inherited trait because it does not discriminate between heavyset or skinny people.  Others say that not eating proper foods can contribute to what causes cellulite.  Having a slow metabolism and not drinking enough water is also thought to be a cause.

Because it is not specifically know what causes cellulite, there is no long term solution to this  unattractive problem.  Thousands of dollars are spent every year to eliminate cellulite, but it has been clinically proven that once you have cellulite, not even surgery will make it go away forever.

Natural, Preventative Measures.

Because there is nothing proven about what causes cellulite, there are no proven remedies. However, there are recommended programs to prevent it or reduce it.

DIET – You can start a preventative program by eating a healthy diet that is rich in fiber.  A fiber rich diet includes lots of fruits and vegetables.

FLUIDS – Always drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, because dehydrated skin is a prime candidate for cellulite.

EXERCISE – Regular exercise will help keep your muscles toned so that fat deposits have less of a chance to build up in the tissue.

WEIGHT MAINTENANCE – Try not to have your weight fluctuate too much.  Fad dieting is a major factor in what causes cellulite, because all of the gaining and losing weight will cause the skin to stretch and break down, allowing the fat cells to form.

AVOID SMOKING – Smoking is the worst possible thing you can do for the health of your skin.  Smoking adds harmful toxins to your body that contribute to the formation of cellulite.
